Dr. Ernesto Henderson, DO, MS

Biography:

Ernesto Henderson, DO, MS, is an experienced psychiatrist leading the team at Finding Balance DO LLC in New York, NY. He specializes in both adults and children and has extensive experience in various mental health conditions, including ADHD. As an osteopathic physician, he also provides osteopathic manipulative therapy (OMT).

Dr. Henderson is board certified in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry and holds a certificate for Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) from the International Society for ECT and Neurostimulation (ISEN).

Born and raised in Fort Washington, Prince George's County, Maryland, Dr. Henderson attended the University of Iowa for his undergraduate studies. He later pursued medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Central Harlem, New York City.

After graduation, Dr. Henderson completed a Traditional Rotating Internship at HMH Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, New Jersey. He then completed a general psychiatry residency at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC, before returning to New York City to finish a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn.

Dr. Henderson currently holds hospital privileges at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he serves as a full-time consulting psychiatrist in the adult and pediatric emergency department. He was also appointed as an associate clinical professor in psychiatry through The Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University in Manhattan, NY.

Beginning January 6th, 2025, Dr. Henderson will take on the role of Unit Chief in the First Break Unit of the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Service (CAPIS) at NYC Health + Hospitals at Kings County Hospital Center, affiliated with SUNY Downstate School of Medicine. He will be leaving the NYP system, including Cornell and Brooklyn Methodist, to start this new role.

Dr. Henderson's practice, Finding Balance, is licensed in Maryland, DC, Virginia, Connecticut, and New York. They accept Aetna insurance in all states, and Cigna, BCBS, and United in New York. The practice only prescribes controlled substances in New York, provides ADHD diagnostic testing, and hires residents to work alongside their experienced team.

Fluent in English, Dr. Henderson is also proficient in French and Spanish and has some knowledge of Japanese. He is passionate about treating both new and existing patients at Finding Balance.
